Congratulations to our boys 9-10 age group team for coming home with 1st place from the USATF Cross County Junior Olympic Championships in College Station, Texas! Our top 4 boys in that race were 1.1 seconds apart and our top 5 were only 10 seconds apart. This team was exactly that...a team!

Leaving no doubt that our Warriors have a place among the very best youth runners in the country they all performed like true champions! After a very difficult and challenging year with never knowing if they would get any opportunity to compete at the national level these kids put in the work. Day after day, month after month and finally on Dec 5th, 2020 they had their moment in the spotlight! We travel from California to Tallahassee Fl to go up against the very best runners in the country. Without missing a beat these kids went out there and ran their hearts out on the national stage.
We had 5 Warriors running in 3 races at the AAU National Cross Country Championships. First the boys 9 - 10 year race went off and our boys race hit the course with everything they had. When the dust had cleared 2 out of 3 had earned medals. Brady Mowles finished 23rd in the 9 year old category and not to be undone Jay Lopez also capturing 25th in the 10 year old category. John Brody Salido (42nd) missed a medal by a few places but put in one of his best races of the season! Next up was Kimberly Lozano in the 7 - 8 year old race. She want to at least match what the boys had done. She did that and more finishing 20th in the 8 year old category. With that she secured her own National medal as well! Last but not least Jacqueline Lopez took to the line and ran herself into not only a medal but All-American honors. Top 8 get these honors and she secured this with a 6th place finish. All and all kids did great with all 5 easily finishing in the top 50% of a national race with 4 out of 5 medals and 1 All-American!!! That's it for this but now time to start getting ready for the next!!! Join our Warrior Youth Running family next season starting in January. For more info check out this link We are very proud to announce that for the 2nd year in a row we are off to the National Cross Country Championships! This year we will be racing in Tallahassee FL in the AAU Youth Nationals! We doubled our kids that qualified to 8 this year and are very proud of their efforts! Ranging from kids as young as 6 to 14 years old we had success at regionals across the board. At Nationals depending on age kids will run anywhere from a 1K to a 4K race. Be sure to follow us on social media so we can keep you up on the results as they occur. Nationals will be on Dec 5th. As we end our 3rd year as a program we are very grateful not only the success we have seen but the family we have built! If you can please help us raise fund to support taking these kids to Nationals. GoFundMe campaign can be found here: gf.me/u/y8wafg
What an amazing experience to match the amazing accomplishment by our warriors this last season! Our warriors traveled to Madison WI to race against the very best runners in the country!braving the cold and travel and placing amounts the very best in those races! Besides the incredible racing experience our warriors had a chance to participate in opening ceremonies, pre-race dinner, team meetings, visit the WI state capitol, tour of Chicago, and even a trip to the tallest buildings! Not to mention ice skating, world famous deep dish pizza, and trolley ride! Fun and excitement was the name of the game on this trip! To say our kids enjoyed themselves is an understatement. On top of that it was exciting to see the energy these kids are bringing back to the rest of the team and to our program overall! Eager to start the next season and accomplish even more! As huge as this event was for us we hope to take it a step further in 2020 and with the energy of both kids and parents I have no doubt we will grow and accomplish more very soon! Stay tuned on what your Warriors are up to next! Enjoy the slide show!
Two short years ago I started a low-cost youth running program for the Whittier area. I hoped to develop strong, tenacious runners who might someday compete against the best in the region and the country, but I knew this would be a process that would take time.
Imagine my pride and excitement when, two short years later, four young Whittier runners qualified for the USATF Regional Championships. As if that weren't enough, today was a momentous day for the Whittier community, our kids, and our team! Those four kids, ages 8-12, ran the races of their lives at the regional championships, and all four managed to qualify to run against the very best youth runners in the country at the USATF National Cross Country Championships in Madison, Wisconsin! This is a tremendous success for our young program and goes far beyond anything we had expected to achieve by this point, but it is also a big financial hardship for our families at a time of year where funds can already start to feel pretty tight. We don't want any kid to miss out on this opportunity and experience, and we need to raise the money quickly. Please consider donating (no amount too small!) and sharing to help all of our qualifying kids get to Nationals! Note: All funds received will pay to cover the costs only for the kids, not a coach or parent. This is about giving them an amazing opportunity they have earned! In 2 short years Warriors program has grown from 11 kids to 42 kids and growing more each season! We also have some amazing success stories as well!!! Two of our Warrior running that went on to High School have already not only have qualified to run varsity as Freshman but gone on to beat every runners in their leagues!!! This XC season alone both the Girls XC Del Rey and the Girls XC Suburban League Varsity Champions (best runner in the entire league for all grades) ran for our program. They are "Warriors for Life" and they have truly run like champions!!! Congrats to Emma Arrendondo (9th) and Natalia Zuniga (10th) for each of their league championships!!! Once a Warrior Always a Warrior!!! |
